The youngster didn’t rise to the criticism given from Twitter user @Shoutinghorse. Instead, he treated the situation very maturely and gave a dignified answer to the critic, as if the fan had merely offered some advice rather than sarcastically mocking his misplaced pass.
Rice has a lot of experience with social media trolling as his choice to select the England national team over the Republic of Ireland earned him a lot of abuse online.
The response from Rice shows a great level of maturity at such a young age. It is the type of attitude that says a lot about his character, and it’s a trait that could serve him well going forward in his career.
