The striker has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr this month, with just five days remaining of the January transfer window. However, it has been revealed that he he is missing out in Eindhoven due to illness, rather than an imminent move away from Anfield.

Nunez's Liverpool future has been cast into doubt, with manager Arne Slot preferring to use Luis Diaz as his central striker and Cody Gakpo off the left in recent weeks. The forward's illness comes at an unfortunate time, with the game at PSV likely to have provided him with a chance to impress. Mohamed Salah and Diaz have been left at home, while youngster Jayden Danns started up front.

It does not appear that Nunez is Al-Nassr's only target, with Jhon Duran of Aston Villa set for a medical in London ahead of a move to the club this week, report. That would see Duran teamed up with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane in their attack.
