da dobrowin: Arsenal are monitoring the contract stand-off between Dominic Solanke and Chelsea with the aim of stealing a move this summer, Football.London reports.
What’s the word?
da roleta: Since making his first-team debut for Chelsea in the Champions League two-years ago, becoming the Blues youngest ever player to feature in Europe’s elite competition, 19-year-old Dominic Solanke has failed to secure any further opportunities.
One of many Chelsea youngsters to spend time on-loan at Vitesse Arnheim, Solanke’s route to the Chelsea first-team this season has been blocked by Diego Costa and summer signing Michy Batshuayi, leaving the young English striker on the brink of an exit.
Solanke’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Chelsea have so far been able to match the young striker’s demands, which will allow a Premier League rival to swoop for the forward’s signature this summer and they’ll only have to pay a consolation fee.
Who wants him?
Liverpool and SPL leaders Celtic are believed to be eyeing his signature but Football.London reports that Arsenal are looking to steal a march on their rivals and move the young striker across London, with interest remaining regardless of whether Arsene Wenger stays on or not.
However, the push for Solanke’s signature will be difficult as his camp have been extremely difficult to drive a bargain with in negotiations, as Chelsea have learned this season, with Solanke reportedly seeking a whopping pay-rise to £50k-a-week.
That’s an audacious amount for a 19-year-old striker who has only one senior appearance to his name and his demands will surely have to be lowered come the summer, if he is to land a move to another top-club.
