Manolo Gabbiadini signed for Southampton in January 2017 for a fee in the region of £14 million. The Italy international then made a bright start to life at St Mary’s Stadium, finding the net six times in his first twelve appearance for the club before the end of the season.
Last time out, however, in his first full campaign with the Saints, the 26-year-old’s form nosedived. Despite being a pretty regular fixture in the first team, Gabbiadini could only add a further five goals to his total Southampton tally in 33 outings in all competitions. He is also yet to register an assist in all his time at the South Coast outfit. Despite his strong start, Gabbiadini must be considered a flop signing for the club.

With Danny Ings’ arrival this summer, and Charlie Austin’s return to full fitness, it’s hard to see Gabbiadini featuring heavily this term. Mark Hughes ought to find a buyer for the man valued at £10.8 million by Transfermarkt as soon as possible so that the club can cut their losses on the Italian.
What do you think, Saints fans – should the club cash in on Gabbiadini as soon as possible or does the forward still have something to offer?
